Nope, the 380 does *not* automagically switch to a serial console when the
framebuffer is removed.  You will need a HIL keyboard to switch it (or
possibly a PS/2 <-> HIL adapter-- I can't verify that).  Ask around, I got
mine for the price of shipping.
