Hi,
I'm new to NetBSD. I've got an HP 382 machine booting from its local
disk, but want to set it up to boot diskless instead. I'm
having a problem with it though. Boot procedure:
1. Boot ROM downloads SYS_UBOOT from rbootd OK
2. Boot ROM does RARP and gets IP OK
(IP 203.14.18.5, netmask 255.255.255.128)
3. Boot ROM does rpc.bootparamd to 203.14.18.127 and gets root
file system location OK
3. Loads kernel OK
4. Kernel does RARP and gets IP OK
5. Kernel attempts to rpc.bootparamd but sends to 203.14.18.255
-- no response from server because wrong broadcast address used
It seems that SYS_UBOOT can detect the netmask/broadcast address
from rarp, but the kernel's own rarp doesn't?
(rarp, bootparams and rbootd server is a Linux box.)
Please CC: me on any replies as I'm not subscribed to the list.
Thanks,
Hamish
