Hi,

I just want to say "muchas gracias" to all who responded to my question. The
base line was that

    - Yes, one can upgrade a 375 to be a 380

    - One needs the right ROMs to do the trick. According to David Carrel
the necessary
information to get these ROMs from HP are:

HP boot ROM for a 380
                    Part #1818-5062
                    Order from 800 227-8164

    - The replacement oscillator should be 2x the frequency of the '040 that
replaces the
       '030

    - It may be possible to run the '040 with up to 33 MHz and there is a
jumper on the
main logic board labled "25/33" that seems to change something in
memory timing if
33 MHz gives random memory errors.

Ok, now I'll go out and try to find a '040 to get my trusty HP up to speed
:-) I may be able to salvage a 380 boot ROM from a - presumed dead - 380 at
work. And if I'm really lucky I may find a way to produce images from these
ROMs for those unfortunate who want to do similar things but don't have a
dead 380 handy :-)

Again, thanks to all and keep up the good work!

Marc
