It's a SEGA product.  It came before the BBA, but was pulled pretty
quickly for being crappy and was replaced by the BBA.  (Which
considering the quality of the chip in the BBA says a lot. :)

Seems like it, if they used a PLD.  The other G2 expansions use custom
chips for the glue logic.
