Pardon me if this was discussed months ago and already exists collecting
dust somewhere, but I just remembered a project a few of my friends (and
myself for a short while) worked on converting old pc parts into a car MP3
player with a palm device as a controller by serial cable. Come to think of
it, a Dreamcast would a lot more compact and neat, and they are getting
pretty cheap. Has anybody used either NetBSD or Linux to play MP3's? How
well (or at all) is the relevent hardware supported. Also, if I can ask a
stupid question since I am a relative newbie at DC NetBSD, after I have
booted up and am running the userland to do things, can I switch to a
different CD and mount it, for lets say, mp3 files? I'm thinking this would
probably require putting some stuff in a ramdisk so that basic utils and
the shell would work--not that I know how to do that...--any insight?
