So, I just build the whole distro on my Qube, as mentioned before I did update to a Feb 07 kernel binary before trying this successfully. When I built the latest kernel, I included the kernel options I posted earlier, to see if I could get USB going.

qube# uname -a
NetBSD qube 4.99.10 NetBSD 4.99.10 (QUBE2-USB-021607CURR) #0: Mon Feb 26 13:35:05 EST 2007 root@qube:/obj/sys/arch/cobalt/compile/QUBE2-USB-021607CURR cobalt

The only glitch I have so far, is that when building from the INSTALL kernel that has been minimized for the Qube, the kernel that results wants to netboot. I have compared the kernel conf files for GENERIC and INSTALL, and then compared them to the GENERIC for 1.6.1 source tree, and I don't see where it is coming from (granted, I only seem to work on this after midnight or before work in the AM). I haven't tried GENERIC yet, but INSTALL seems to be just minimized for the Qube and not a special netboot-only kernel (?). I had the same issue with Andy's Feb 8 kernel binary.

I'm not sure why root comes up at tlp0, should I just change that
root at ?

line in the conf file to wd0a? How to specify the dump device wd0b then?

Help with this would be great, as at present any reboot needs a console intervention to proceed properly. I'm sure it is something easy I'm overlooking.

From the dmesg, it looks like the USB card is awake, perhaps one USB port has an issue? The dmesg is a little long, I hit a couple keys to get hyperterm going so it tried to netboot a couple times.

I haven't done anything with external devices and NetBSD; I guess I'll read about mounting a flash drive (hmm... did I enable FAT32 in the kernel, I'll have to look and make sure). It would be fun to get the Qube and the UPS talking, too.

Thanks for the help--

Brian
