I got netbooting working (by tossing out the NeXT bootpd and using ISC's
dhcpd), but now I'm having trouble getting the disk partitioned and
labeled.

Actually, I think I got it partitioned how I want it, but I can't figure
out how to get it to actually write the disklabel.

Here's what fdisk thinks the partition map is:
    bsdqube# fdisk
    wd0: no disk label
    NetBSD disklabel disk geometry:
    cylinders: 16383 heads: 16 sectors/track: 63 (1008 sectors/cylinder)

    BIOS disk geometry:
    cylinders: 16383 heads: 16 sectors/track: 63 (1008 sectors/cylinder)

    Partition table:
    0: sysid 131 (Linux native)
	start 1, size 131039 (63 MB), flag 0x0
	    beg: cylinder 0, head 0, sector 2
	    end: cylinder 129, head 15, sector 63
1: sysid 130 (Linux swap or Prime or Solaris)
	start 131040, size 263088 (128 MB), flag 0x0
	    beg: cylinder 130, head 0, sector 1
	    end: cylinder 390, head 15, sector 63
    2: sysid 169 (NetBSD)
	start 394128, size 33356736 (16287 MB), flag 0x0
	    beg: cylinder 391, head 0, sector 1
	    end: cylinder 1022, head 15, sector 63
    3: <UNUSED>
    bsdqube#

And here's the disklabel I'm trying to set:
    bsdqube# ls
    boot.tar x
    bsdqube# cat x
    # /dev/rwd0d:
    type: ESDI
    disk: Maxtor 91728D8
    label: fictitious
    flags:
    bytes/sector: 512
    sectors/track: 63
    tracks/cylinder: 16
    sectors/cylinder: 1008
    cylinders: 16383
    total sectors: 33750864
    rpm: 3600
    interleave: 1
    trackskew: 0
    cylinderskew: 0
    headswitch: 0 # microseconds
    track-to-track seek: 0 # microseconds
    drivedata: 0

    7 partitions:
    # size offset fstype [fsize bsize cpg]
      d: 33700864 0 unused 0 0 # (Cyl.0 - 33482)
      e: 131039 1 Linux Ext2 0 0 # (Cyl. 0*- 129)
      f: 263088 131040 swap # (Cyl. 130 - 390)
      a: 33306730 394128 Linux Ext2 0 0 # (Cyl. 391-33482)

But it never seems to want to actually write it to disk...
    bsdqube# disklabel -r -R wd0 x
    wd0: no disk label
    May 15 01:56:12 bsdqube /netbsd: wd0: no disk label
NetBSD slice at 394128, partition C at 0
Write outside MBR partition? [n]: y
    bsdqube# disklabel -r wd0
    wd0: no disk label
    disklabel: no disklabel
    May 15 01:56:43 bsdqube /netbsd: wd0: no disk label
    bsdqube#
