Is there a maximum size for the kernel ?

I've tryed to boot a kernel with a buit in MFS filesystem and it doesn't
seem to work if the MFS is bigger than 1 Meg. ( 1 Meg MFS makes a 2.4
Megs kernel).
a 2.8 Megs kernel seems to uncompress correctly, but the boot hangs just
after displaying : decompression Done

best regards
