I've got a hold of sz and rz and got them to compile fine.  When I'm 
using cu to dial out, and want to get a file from my shell account, I 
keep getting:

/dev/ttye0: Permission denied.

error message.

On the shell I type sz filename.
Then I do ~!rz to launch rz but no luck.
