I run a bunch of sharks on 1.5.  They are connected through a KVM
switch.  I have discovered it is possible to get the sharks booted
without having the kernel find the pms (or opms) device at boot time.
You should make sure your current boot configured the device.  

   dmesg | pms 

should show if you have the device configure.  If not, make sure you
have a working mouse configured and reboot.
