If I remember correctly the 5V from the PSU brick just goes directly to 
all the chips (or via a 3.3V regulator). So with no hardware to let you 
power off, I don't think 1.6 will be any more successfull than 1.4.

I don't know why the ofw is trapping into the netbsd code though.
