Using something like

release release=3Dallsrc ...

?

This should have given you 1.4.3 - sources. 1.4.3 has a new system
call, issetugid(). So you should have built and installed a new kernel
(with COMPAT_NN; where NN is your old system version) first, as you
should always when upgrading from source.=20

Now, how do you recover from this situation?

- If you insist on upgrading from (mostly) source, I suggest to get the
1.4.3 kernel intended for your machine from the ftp server once 1.4.3
is 1.4.3 is announced.

- If you need your system back fast, install the binary 1.4.2 system,
completely. You might need to rm the 1.4.3 libc manually, but as "rm"
is statically linked, this will work. But be warned that 1.4.3 contains
some security enhancements over 1.4.2; read the NetBSD security advisories
to decide whether they apply to your situation or not. You probably want
to upgrade to 1.4.3 as soon as possible.

Good luck!
