Don't know about the 1.4.2 install kernel but the 1.5ALPHA snapshot I 
built last week seemed happy to upgrade a machine with a Simtec IDE 
interface. What problem were/are you having with the 1.4.2 install 
kernel? The Simtec IDE support was definitely working in 1.4 so it 
ought to work in 1.4.2.
