I created /dev/audio1 with cd /dev; ./MAKEDEV audio1 I am getting the
same error with mpg123 and when I try to cat a file into /dev/audio1 I
get a device not configured error... Can someone explain to me / point
me in the right direction to understanding netbsd devices... The startup
messages vs. the actual device names is very confusing...
I see that ess0 is initializing... so why can't I just use /dev/ess0?
ess0 doesn't exist... ok... now what :-)
                                Keith
P.S. Thanks for all your help thus far..

gotten no further because of all the people saying "What colour?"
