I have thought of that, but I have never tried building a kernel
before. I need to investigate how to do that first.
    
I guess something that would be useful would be to log this problem
on the NetBSD problem database as well.
  
In the meantime, does anyone know the incantation needed to
make an xserver work with NetBSD 1.4.1 on a CATS box? Does
it start 'You configure your kernel...'

se by hand. What is required after that to end up with a minimal usable system is to unpack the NetBSD sets using tar, configure the file rc.conf in /etc and run the script 'MAKEDEV' in /dev. It is not difficult but might not be best approach if you are attempting a NetBSD install for the first time. I have a copy of the RiscPC 1.3.0 installation kernel here if there is not one more easily available elsewhere.
