Every time I halt my system the kernel crashs afer the output

The operating system has halted.
Please press any key to reboot.

and a following key press the screen shows only rubbish and the the system
crashs (does not reboot). I have a RiscPC with ARM600 and netbsd 1.4.1 kernel.
