You *are* using coax, aren't you? (10Base2).

Yes, I have one up and running:
ne0 at podulebus0 [ netslot 0 ]: EtherLan 600A ethernet
ne0: 10base2, 10baseT, auto, default auto
ne0: Ethernet address 00:c0:32:00:74:6f

(This is with the media selection patch from Mike Pumford but
it has worked befor as well.)

I get the same if I boot to NetBSD immediatly and the card hasn't been
used by RISC OS before. Try booting NetBSD after you have successfully
pinged the other host.
