I believe the status is it doesn't really work.  It was done with the 8 bit
system in mind originally.

I did have a new working version but I think I lost it in a HD crash last
September time, and I've not found it on any of my drives.  Has anyone got a
copy of it?  I think I sent it to one or two ppl?

I don't have the time to start on it again, and I've only booted my RPC
about 4 times in the last 6 months since I got a PII...  I may still have
the info on it if anyone's interested.

/dev/audio is probably the only one that will work, mixerctl etc would have
to be done by software (unless someone knows some ioc commands I don't)
