An important clarification is that you're asking about pc0, not X.  The
pccons as currently in-tree uses a very different vertical sync rate than
the OFW.  (64Hz, perhaps?)

As-is, the X will work, without color and those pixels on the left; it's the
pccons that makes the sync on composite go `haywire' (it's actually just
higher vertical sync, AFAICT).
