Hi,
  Ok I have fixed up the problems with the -current build of CATS kernels
so things should now work. The default console behaviour to to use a VGA
console if present otherwise it will fall back on the diagnostic serial
port.
The disagnostic serial port can be forced to be the console with the
option console=fcom on the boot line.
