Just thought I'd mention: booting 1.3.1 RPCINST 27 Mar 98 and choosing
"upgrade" gave me:

Upgrading kernel (old kernel is /netbsd.bak)
/mnt/netbsd.gz: No such file or directory
//upgrade: 238: Syntax error: Unterminated quoted string

... time to switch to manual :)
