The GNU assembler in the NetBSD sources doesn't understand the ARM.

"The sources, or a pointer to them, should be with the assembler
binary you got."

go to the software download page under there, get the 'full NetBSD
sources', and they're in that tar file under
netbsd/shark-tools/binutils.
