That sentence is a little unclear - what eactly do you mean by it?

It uses the Philips IIS standard, which I think is a digital audio standard
used by CD players etc.  IIRC there's an explanation of the format in the
data sheet for the TDA1543 D to A, which is on Philips Semiconductor's Web
site (http://www.semiconductors.philips.com/).

If you need any more info about IIS, let me know and I'll see what I can find
out (I work for Philips Research).
