I configured up a system for a slip dialin a year or two back. Didn't do
it in the standad way though!

First of all, I started a getty on the serial port, and entered into the
gettytab for it to run at 19200 baud. Created a user called 'slip' and
then got this user to run a program called 'slurp' (or something like
that) as its default login, which would start up a slip session on the
current tty.

This was a quick solution, but probably not the recommended way of doing
it... I'm sure with ppp something different has to be done.
