Hi everybody!

Did anybody install 1.3 ALPHA on a system with a Cumana SCSI II
controller yet, no matter if it's from CDROM or with the files from
the ftp site?
I tried using the latter.
The distribution on the ftp site seems to be OK because James Shiell
managed to install it, so it seems to be the Cumana driver once
again. :-(((

One irritating thing is that there is no bootloader or other RISC OS
utility supplied with the 1.3 ALPHA as found on ftp.ph.kcl.ac.uk.
I'm using the bootloader V2.88 for 1.2R which seems to work so far.

The first kernel I tried, RPCINST-971118, failed horribly after the
SCSI probing, repeatedly printing a two-line message with something
like "Page fault in kernel" in it, thus scrolling at a high rate. So
I'm not sure if that's the exact text and what else is written.

The second kernel, RPCINST-971120, behaves a little better.
My Cumana SCSI II card and the attached devices are probed correctly. I'm leaving out the device listing:

podule0 at podulebus0: Cumana SCSI II interface: SCSI-2 & CDFS \
 Expansion card
csc0 at podulebus0: [ podule 0 ]:: EPS200, 16 MHz, SCSI ID 7
scsibus0 at csc0: 8 targets

After that I get (omitting leading zeros):

Stack limit exceeded f3bb 0080
nogo1, Data abort: 'Translation fault (section)' status=005 \
 addr=e084315f PC=f0035660
str r1, [r0, #0x005c]
Section fault in SVC mode
vm_fault (f1478a00, e0843000, 3, 0) -> 5
panic: fault cannot be handled (frame = 0xf0383f?)

Then I'm dropped into the debugger.
"trace" outputs:

_Debugger (_Debugger+0x10)
_panic (_panic+0x14)
_data_abort_handler (_data_abort_handler+0x10)
_vfsinit (vfsinit+0x10)
_main (_main+0x10)
_kernel_text (_kernel_text+0x3c)

Can anybody shed some light on this?
First of all, does the Cumana driver really not work or does anybody
have it working?
My machine is a StrongARM RiscPC, 24+2 MB RAM, Cumana SCSI II
controller, Conner CFP1080S 1GB harddisk, Sony CDU55S CDROM.

So long,

Markus
