Not in general. I have a SCSI ZIP drive connected to my slow falcon and it 
achieves about 1000KB/s (limited by the zip drive). The parallelport versions 
should make up to 600Kb/s (regarding to an article which was printed in the 
german GAG news) under RiscOS.
I can't imagine why the IDE versions should not bring the same performance, at 
least as the parallelport version.
