All,

I've managed to get xdm working [to the fact that the Xarm banner is 
displayed shortly followed by the X login screen].

I type my username and password in and all seems fine, until some text 
flashes on the console window [B/R of screen] and the Xarm banner is
displayed once more... :-( ]

After some thinking and hunting, I found the messages file in /var/log

here is a snippet of the log showing the two attempts I had at logging
in...

any ideas on what I'm doing wrong ?

Some system info.

RPC 600, 12+1mb RAM

I've allocated 60 L1 pages in the boot loader.
