I finally got around to reinstalling RiscBSD on my machine
last weekend, and initially I used the 4740 kernel from
RiscDisc 3 and everything was fine.

This morning I upgraded to the 4958 kernel from the ftp
site and found that I started having problems with processes
hanging for no apparent reason.

Initially I noticed it when perl invoked itself (with the
child process executing a trivial one line script) and the
child never exited. Subsequently i've seen the same problems
with various things including gcc and various combinations
of sh and perl.

The processes are perfectly killable when they hang like
this, and going back to the 4740 kernel seems to have
solved the problem...

BTW I now have sets for perl 5.004_01 and zsh 3.0.3 ready
to upload if someone tells me where to put them ;-)
