I have RiscBSD 1.2 installed and just upgraded to kernel sa110-4958
but to my surprise even this rather new kernel does not recognise
my printer being online.

All the /dev/lp* drivers are present, /etc/printcap is present and
filled in proberly, so I think it is the kernel's problem rather
than mine, as it does not "see" the printer when booting.

lpc status reports: queueing enabled etc., printer idle.

Can anyone please help ?

Regards,
Rainer
