Dear folks,

Been busy trundling along with a StrongARM RiscBSD setup for a few weeks
now (which is delightfully faster than the previous 610 arrangement, with
the exception of X, which now redraws strangely, and slowly - but hey :-).

However - a niggle that's making life a little difficult when I try to
work from home.

Every so often, the Ether3 card gives a receive packet error, and dies,
completely. Re-initialising via ifconfig ea0 down, then up, restores
things to their usual working order, but can only be done from the
console.

Messages like

Nov 15 22:32:00 mouse /netbsd: rx packet error (0f) - dropping packet

are the culprit, though I've also had errors 06, 07, 08, and 0e within the
scope of the last log files.

I presume there's a way to make the re-initialisation automatic, or even
part of the driver code, to keep the card downtime to a minimum.

Can anyone suggest a way to do this, or an alternative solution to my
problem?

Thanks,

Dan.

P.S. Love the new version of xlock - been making the Windows users down
the desk ever so envious :-)
