They have been released in SCSI form (and parallel?) in the US. The are 
expecting
them in the UK by December in SCSI and parallel forms with the internal EIDE 
to
follow shortly (hopfully at the same time for the UK)

They have a 3 year warranty on the drive with a 5? year warranty on the 
media
it's self so it's close to that of the SCSI drives that you mentioned above.

If you've got a RiscBSD partition on each cartridge then can't you just 
mount
them and umount them as needed like a floppy disc?
