Basically yes, I did that last week.
Some sets got rearranged. So to get a "clean" 1.2 installation you might
- install the 1.2 config set first
- deinstall as252, cc263 and cc272 before reinstalling cc2721
- deinstall x11r6, x11r6upgrade and xarm18 before reinstalling x11r6,
  xarm21 and/or x11r6dev.

Do *not* install the etc set when you do an upgrade.
