Hi !

I (total XXXXBSD-beginner) heard of UNIX long ago and never was
interested in such a IMHO complicated type of OS.
Two days ago I saw the (coool) screenshots available at the RiscBSD
site, yesterday I got it from the mirror in Stuttgart (ftp.uni-
stuttgart.de/pub/systems/acorn/riscbsd) and subscribed to this maillist
and today I have my first dumb question:

How do I install the base_00.gz-base_12.gz sets ?? The manual (beta.
txt) sort of contradicts itself in this point I think:

<SNIP>
Transfer the sets from floppies to the HD.

Step 23

Start the installer

23. At the prompt type

    /usr/local/sbin/inst

    This will run the RiscBSD installer script. This installer can be
    used to transfer the set files from floppies to the HD and also
    handles installing the sets.

....

Currently it can not be used for the installation of the base set.
Until the base and etc sets has been installed and the machine rebooted
certain installer options (Validate) will not work.
</SNIP>

Following the instructions at step 23 I inserted all the 13 discs
containg the base_sets (base_XX.gz). If after that I type 4 to display
all the available sets -> no sets ! Later I read in appendix G that I
can't use the installer to install the base_sets. So I tried the
shells_00.gz set. -> same as above.
On MS-DOS discs it is called: SHELLS_0.GZ. Is it possible that it isn't
recognised because of that ?

But my main question still is:

How do I install the base_sets manually ???

Thanks and bye ... Steffen.
