NetBSD-11.0-evbarm-aarch64.iso for rpi4 install?
While waiting for 11.0 release images at armbsd.org, I also checked
https://cdn.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/images/11.0/ since I'll be needing
AMD64 image for a NUC system too.
There I was reminded about NetBSD-11.0-evbarm-aarch64.iso and I'm
wondering how usable that is for installing on rpi4b systems.
My rpi4b was originally setup with NetBSD-10-aarch64--generic.img.gz
from armbsd.org, dd'ing to the microSD sysdisk and so on.
Now e.g. if I wanted to do a fresh install on an rpi4, is that ISO file
useable for that purpose?
And, can it be dd'd to USB stick as installation media? Or does it
require a bootable CD/DVD device?
I haven't tried it yet, but I'd expect .iso files to have installation
kernels and sets, run sysinst etc.; vs. creating a system disk from .img
file contents.
Using .img files to construct a sysdisk is okay; but I do prefer using
sysinst, doing my own partitions, selecting options etc. Plus there's a
procedure/documentation win here if I can use the same methods for AMD64
and ARM64. That's just a bonus. :-)
Thanks,
sr.
