Ok.

I wouldn't try to search multiple package directories, you don't want
to try to install ones built for earmv7hf on a RPiB+ anyway, just set
PKG_PATH to:

PKG_PATH='ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/packages/NetBSD/earmv6hf/7.0_2015Q2/All'

This directory doesn't contain a package for pkgin for some reason so
you will have to build it from source if you still want it.

The pkg_add(1) utility can also download and install packages for you.

Very well, I set my PKG_PATH accordingly. I am not interested in building from source, I prefer precompiled packages, old SGI habits die hard (usually *much* quicker to update). Is that repo in fact supposed to have a 'pkgin' package ready to go ? If so, I can/will wait a bit before trying again.
