I have been setting up aliases & trying to configure ntpd. I notice that when editing a file w/ vi, any attempt to grow the file at the end causes vi & my ssh login to crash. Inserting text into the middle of a file works OK. Also

If you started with "rpi.img", there is a bit of post-install work to grow the file-system to fit your SD card. See the "Growing the root file-system" section of the install notes on the wiki:

That's the next thing I'm getting to, forgot to do it 1st. Is that what is causing the vi problem, maybe lack of space in /tmp ? I used an 8 GB microSDHC card, UHS 1, class 10. I think I am in single user mode, accessing w/ ssh, can I do the 'grow the fs' over ssh ? Thanks & TIA ....
