NetBSD-1.6 on the Shark is known to hang occasionally during heavy disk
i/o activity. I don't think the exact reason was ever discovered,
although there seemed (at the time) to be some dependency on the brand
of HDD installed...
The NetBSD-2.0 branch is much more reliable on arm32 in general. My
diskful Shark rarely crashes now, despite regular disk-related hangs
with 1.6.x, as you reported. (I believe its occasional crashes of late
are due to the same frame.h problem reported here earlier today, but it
doesn't have a serial console so I can't be sure).

That's unlikely to cure the problem, I'm afraid.
