I have local video & keyboard connected; once I select cd:\install from the
local keyboard and monitor, the kernel boot transfers control over to the COM
port and the video goes blank.

Though once you've installed NetBSD you can configure it to autoboot through the
ARC init ("Manage startup", on this ARC), and make it headless & keyboardless
(you may need a keyboard terminator). Everything can be done through COM or
Ethernet at that point.

My faulty memory tells me that I once sent an Alpha SRM menu through COM: by
setting an environment variable-- dunno about the ARC. Any experts out there
know this one for certain?
