What does the boot line for the ide drive (wdc driver) say?  If you
can, you might want to try to see if kicking it into PIO mode.  This
might get it working and show a problem with DMA.  I'm grasping at
straws here.  I do know that when I used the IDE drive on my
OpenBSD/arc system it was in pio mode.
