Xorg on 8.0 (A1200)

Hello.

I happened to find my pcmcia ne(4) when I was looking for some other stuff and I thought I'd try it out on the amiga.
After I'd updated the kernel from 8_BETA to 8_STABLE I tried starting X11 but no go. I know I had it working on 8_BETA
which this tweet proves. https://twitter.com/herdware/status/971865420125925376
I am using the WSCONS kernel.

/var/log/Xorg.0.log ends with
[ 1167.521] (II) wsfb: driver for wsdisplay framebuffer: wsfb
[ 1167.542] (--) Using wscons driver
[ 1167.552] (WW) Falling back to old probe method for wsfb

[ 1167.680] (II) Unloading wsfb

[ 1167.721]
Fatal server error:

Please consult the The X.Org Foundation support
         at http://wiki.X.Org
 for help.
[ 1167.798] Please also check the log file at "/var/log/Xorg.0.log" for additional information.

This confuses me. Perhaps I was using the old Xamiga and not Xorg?

Also, is there a way to change the console resolution with wscons as you could with iteconfig?
(/usr/sbin/iteconfig -w 640 -h 256 0x0 0x0bbbbb)
I never understood why the amiga port defaults to that awful interlace mode.

Please CC for reply
