Hi!

X11 and KDE is now up running - well sort of. I just installed pico - well
I made the mistake to unpack it to / instead of /usr/pkg - but a "ldconfig
/lib" made it working anyway, and pico is fine, I guess I leave it there
;). *shrug* But I guess I will remove other stuff I installed this way
again...

After this everything went like a charm, I just created some xserverrc,
and used the grfmodes file from INSTALL.X11 (IDEK & CV64) and was able to
fire up X11 on 1024x768x16 bit quite soon. The hardware cursor does not
seem to work properly with my CyberVision 64, but everything else works
nicely - even tough its a really minimal X11... twm... this reminds me of
AmiWin... well I already replaced it by kwm & kpanel and will also try out
enlightement.

I installed all packages by extracting them relative to /usr/pkg. This
somehow worked, but I guess I have to read instructions on how to install
packages properly somewhere. Cause even tough KDE works - I only installed
kdebase, kdelibs, kdeutils and kdesupport - it for example does not find
its icon graphics and symbols and thus looks quite funny, and then there
are those package files like +DESC, +something and stuff. Well there ought
to be some package manager? "man pkg" or "man pkgsrc" didn't give me
anything. Or is that package manager only for the source code packages?

Well I leave thats up to the next day and try to read some
f**** documentation on that package system.

Thanks a lot for your comments I am learning, and now you see that even a
non "vi" unix lamer can set up NetBSD with a little help. ;)

Well this one challenged me enough to keep me up till 2 o Clock in the
night. Gotta get some sleep now ;). Don't ever say again I can't install
that beast.
