I couldn't resist the temptation to reword a little - hopefully
I havne't mangled it too badly - if people are happy with the
below (or not :), please let me know.

Thanks for the text Markus, mind if I give you as a point of
contact if they have any questions? :)

NetBSD is a free Unix like operating system supporting a wide range of
hardware platforms. The Amiga was the third platform for NetBSD, and
has been fully supported since 1993, benefitting from continuing
development to hardware structures as well as user land software.
Currently a vast amount of Amiga-related hardware is supported, such as
graphics boards, SCSI host adaptors, different CPU types (from m68020
with additional MMU to m68030 and up to m68060) and networking
devices. The Amiga "clone" 'DraCo' is supported as well. A full list
is available on <a
href="http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/amiga/index.html">the NetBSD WWW
site</a>. Development is in work for the PowerPC board made by Phase5 -
which will profit from sharing code with existing ports for other
PowerPC-based NetBSD-platforms.

NetBSD/Amiga is binary compatible with all other m68000-based NetBSD
platform such as NetBSD/mac68k, NetBSD/atari, NetBSD/sun3, NetBSD/hp300
NetBSD/x68k, and NetBSD/mvme68k (Motorola VME boards). Being
binary-compatible with SunOS on old Sun3 machines, NetBSD/amiga even
helped to continue the recent development of AmigaOS from porting the
Source using the old environment system on NetBSD/amiga to native
AmigaOS using SAS/C.

The NetBSD distribution contains the kernel, userland including full
development tools and the X windowing system, and an extensive package
system that permits third party software to be easily installed.
Currently version 1.3.2 is available by ftp and on CD-ROM. A complete
distribution for all supported platforms contains not only the
binaries, but a complete source for all applications and platforms,
making a full NetBSD distribution an important resource for all
developers. Other NetBSD platforms do profit from the Amiga as well,
ie. Amiga file system and support for Zorro bus, which may be important
in the near Amiga future.
