Installing NetBSD 1.2.1

Hi,

Having read a lot about NetBSD121 and wanting to get to grips with Unix, I'm
trying to install NetBSD1.2.1 onto my Amiga 4000. However, untill now things
didn't go as they should, according to the INSTALL.doc

My configuration:

A4000 in Mikronik Tower
PROCESSOR: CPU 68040/68040fpu   => Cyberstorm040
CUSTOM CHIPS: AA PAL Alice (id=$0023), AA Lisa (id=$00F8)
VERS:   Kickstart version 40.68, Exec version 40.10, Disk version 40.42 => 3.1
roms
RAM: Node type $A, Attributes $505 (FAST), at $8000000-$87FFFFF (8.0 meg)   =>
on the Cyberstorm
     Node type $A, Attributes $505 (FAST), at $7000000-$7FFFFFF (16.0 meg)  =>
on the motherboard
     Node type $A, Attributes $703 (CHIP), at $2000-$1FFFFF (~2.0 meg)      =>
chipram

BOARDS:
 Board (unidentified):   Prod=8512/10($2140/$A)
     (@$40000000, size 64meg, subsize same)
 Board + ROM (HD?) (unidentified): Prod=8512/11($2140/$B)
     (@$44000000, size 32meg, subsize same)
 Board (unidentified):   Prod=2195/5($893/$5)
     (@$46000000, size 2meg, subsize same)
 Board + ROM (HD?) (unidentified):   Prod=2195/6($893/$6) (@$E90000 64K)

I currently have two boards in the system:
    1 - My Piccolo 24bit gfx-board
    2 - Fastlane SCSI2-controller

###

I downloaded and installed everyting as they should (I believe....)

    - All the binaries from the bin-dist dir
    - the kernel, utils, miniroot and security dirs
    - extracted everyting, copyied the loadbsd file into c:, the ixemul.lib in
libs:
    - created one dir in which I copied all the binaries
    - created the partitions on the harddrives, put in the right dostypes,
deselected
      automount and custom bootcode, put the end and start of the Reserved
blocks to 0.
    - streamed to miniroot-install-filesystem to the swap partitions (both of
them).

Now, when I try to boot NetBSD with the command Loadbsd -b netbsd (I have the
kernel in the rootdir of my workbench) My system switches to loading NetBSD.
This goes allright until:

idesc0 at manibus0 scsibus0 at idesc0 sd0 at scsibus0 targ 0 lun 0: <quantum,
LPS270A, A57.> SCSI2 0/direct fixed sd0: 258Mb, 955 cyl, 14 head, 40 sec, 512
bytes/sec

Then the system just sits there with the cursor blinking at the next line. No
reaction on keyboard, except for [Cntrl, Amiga, Amiga]. It doesn't see the
scsiboard, nor the drives attached to it, nor the gfx-card, nor the partitions
I created, nothing.

I tried everything I could think of:

    - removing scsiboard => System hangs at exactly the same spot;
    - all the options in loadbsd => system hangs at exactly the same spot;
    - removed the IDEdrive (quantum lps270) => system reports having found the
ide-controler,
      than just stops in exactly the same way;
    - removed the gfx-board => doesn't make any difference either.

I know the Fastlane is not the most wonderful thing, but removing it doesn't
help. Someone suggested that the ide-drive didn't release the system, but with
the drive removed from the system it doesn't go any further either.

Could it be there's something wrong with the EDI controler? Is there a way to
just ignore this controler and have NetBSD directly looking at the Fastlane?

Please, I'm desperate....

Thanks in advance,

Job Hanssen
