Its a small battery-backed chip of it own.
AmigaOS reads it when booting, and writes in when you select SAVE in the time 
prefs editor.
NetBSD reads in when booting, and writes it on shutdown.
This has not changed. No need to worry. I just changed the way these devices
are found by the OS on startup.
