NetBSD 1.x and install problems

Iv'e been doing some thinking about this, because it seems that quite a number
of people have problems with no clear cause (like they forgot one step, did
something wrong etc.).

Most things in the installation are quite easy to check, ie. you can use fsck
on your filesystems etc.

But what if there is an error (read / write error f.i.) in the swap partition?
Will the kernel detect this and let me know? Or will it just crash?

If not, do we have any tools to check the swap partition?
Maybe it's possible to newfs' it, and then do an fsck on it?
