Hello, I am interested in working on the “VMWare graphical acceleration” project listed on the NetBSD projects page. I am currently learning and working with the DRM subsystem, specifically focusing on porting older fbdev drivers to the modern DRM/KMS framework for linux. Project understanding: The goal is to enable graphical acceleration for VMware on NetBSD by adapting or porting an existing Linux DRM driver. Proposed approach: Study existing Linux DRM drivers used for VMware Analyze current DRM support in NetBSD and previously ported drivers Incrementally port/adapt the driver to NetBSD Relevant experience: Experience in systems programming (C, assembly) Worked on Linux kernel development (patches accepted through bug fixing program) Built a custom SoC and worked on hardware-software interfaces I have been going through NetBSD source code and documentation to better understand the relevant subsystems and would appreciate any guidance on where to begin or specific areas to focus on. Please let me know if this project is still actively looking for contributors or if there are specific expectations or prerequisites I should fulfill before proceeding further. Thank you for your time. Best regards, Abinash Singh abinashsinghlalotra%gmail.com@localhost
