current snapshot cannot mount / from CD

I've an amd64 machine to run -current on.
It's running 5.1 ok right now.
I booted the HEAD 20110609*Z amd64 snapshot from a CD;
all looked good until it tried to mount the root fs from cd0a, it failed.
I don't have a serial console on this thing, so don't have the exact
output.

Does this sound remotely familiar to anyone?
