mplayer often segfaults on my i386 too on some files. As far as I
understand the problem is that NetBSD has too small stack by default,
only 2 megabytes. But it works just fine after increasing stack limit
to 20Mb. Again this is on my NetBSD-4/i386.

P.S.
Is there any reason to have such a small stack by default? IMHO
NetBSD Guide should describe how to increase it. Segfaulting mplayer
is really annoying and it is not trivial to understand why it does
so. I guess some other "modern" application widely used on desktops
last years may require more than 2Mb of stack.
