Subject: very weird booting issues with new machines - 4-core Opteron 270

Under "no available disks", I wrote about problems with two new machines. Greg
and Frank have been very helpful - they both boot now (but not the same version
of the kernel) and neither one is running "right".

It's pretty much deep voodoo to me, still, at this level. Perhaps someone here
can see something brilliant from the dmesg output.

The machine with two dual-core 270 CPUs is running -current as of a few days
ago. Despite having MULTIPROCESSOR defined, it doesn't even *find* the second
CPU, must less start it.

(This kernel won't even boot on the machine with two Opteron 246s - I'll send a
separate message about that.)

Any ideas on what to try next?

Thanks,
chris

It boots! Still thinks it's a uniprocessor. Odd, that, especially since it
immediately thereafter says "dual core" :-/
