I did this:
  pkg_add 
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/pkgsrc-2005Q3/NetBSD-2.1/amd64/All/emacs-21.4anb1.tgz

Yes, I have pkgsrc installed, but pkg_add saves time. Even on a 2GHz 
machine.
